Compagnie de Provence

Compagnie de Provence are our latest addition to HK Collection. It’s a brand I have admired for a few years but for one reason or another, never got round to ordering…until now. After seeing them at Maison Objet in Paris, I was once again drawn in by the wonderful aromas, story behind the brand and packaging. I came away with some lovely little samples, which I’m still using now and I have to admit – that convinced me to finally take the plunge and make my first order.

Born out of the imagination of Pascal Bourelly and Philippe Boigeol, 2 friends from Marseille, the story of Compagnie de Provence begins in 1990 when they establish their trading company in the Panier, Marseille’s oldest district. The turning point for the company was in 1999 when Compagnie de Provence became the first brand to reinterpret the traditional cube of Marseille soap and launch its liquid version. Made from vegetable oils as its solid ancestor and crafted in a cauldron following authentic tradition.  Since then, thanks to their expertise and creativity, Compagnie de Provence has constantly been developing products dedicated to your well-being.

A Most Curious Kids Fair

Just in time for Christmas and for a cool shopping experience, Home & Kids will be taking part in all three ‘A Most Curious Kids Fair’. So if you’re in Brighton, Norwich or London, come and see us and loads of other design led exhibitors of all things stylish, beautiful and cool for kids. Exhibitors include Polarn O. Pyret, Beau Loves, Little Titans, Rosie Wonders and Cissy Wears, amongst many, many others!

Although Becky Hoh and Gemma Goodwin are the brains behind the ‘A Most Curious Wedding Fairs’ which specialises in everything cool, quirky and vintage for weddings, they first launched ‘A Most Curious Baby Fair’ in Norwich this past Summer and we were lucky enough to exhibit there and we got such a great response. The people of Norwich seemed to really get what Home & Kids were about and we can’t wait to go back…not least because it’s beautiful there anyway.

From the baby fair, a slightly more grown up ‘A Most Curious Kids Fair’ has been born and this time it promises to be bigger, better and well….just come along and see for yourself! We promise you’ll find something special…

See you soon

Tattoo Love…

Now I don’t know about you but I happen to think our new tattoos from Tattyoo are fab! When I first discovered them, I knew I had to have them for the shop. They look remarkably realistic, especially THIS one, but without the pain.  I am definitely the kind of person who quite likes the look of some tattoos (as long as they’re not covering every inch of your face) and although I’m not brave enough to have a real one, I’m kind of impressed when I see a well designed one. Check out these ones I spotted on PINTEREST.

Do you think she’ll regret the Where’s Wally one?

If, like me you’re a bit of a wimp, shop HERE for some painless but temporary alternatives.

See you soon

Shop Life Lately According to Instagram

For those of you who haven’t visited the shop this week, we have a lovely guest appearance in the form of a POP UP SHOP.  Bert & Betty is a gorgeous shop specialising in all the latest must haves in kitchenware.  They are based in Greenwich but for a limited time a selection of their best sellers will be available at H&K.

Pop by and have a look – you might just find what you’re looking for!

We recently held pop in pottery sessions at the shop, so little ones could make a fantastic gift for Mother’s Day.  Unfortunately I forgot to take lots of pictures as I promised  myself I would, however I did manage to take two.  We’ve had lots of people asking if we can make this a regular event…the answer is I’m not sure.  We can certainly arrange to have sessions in the run up to special occasions and will keep you updated for the next dates.

A big thank you to Pottery on The Go for providing all the pottery, glazing and firing it all.  They looked great!  In the meantime if you fancy trying your hand at some creative pottery painting, you can do this at Rhubarb & Custard

See you soon
