To everyone who has supported us this year in what can only be described as very uncertain times, we thank you. Independent shops in particular have to fight to survive and we are very lucky to have loyal customers who make running a little shop very enjoyable.
I’m writing this on Christmas Eve at the shop. The last customer has left and all is very quiet. I find myself reflecting on the past year and can’t quite believe another year has almost finished. What is it about the older you get, the quicker the years go by? However, I’m looking forward to 2012 and to new beginnings.
I know that tomorrow I will be enjoying some uninterrupted time with my family and can’t wait to see the look on my children’s faces when they open their presents.

Have a wonderful Christmas, a restful time and see you in the New Year!

I absolutely love cushions. I think they can quickly transform a room and inspire change. You know how sometimes you get tired of the way a room looks but have got comfortable with it and before you know it, it’s years down the line and you get nervous of change. A cushion can be like dipping your toe into changing the look of that room. First the cushion, then a lamp or a rug and maybe even decor change, whether wall paper, paint or even a new sofa…the possibilities are endless. At the shop we have a gorgeous selection of cushions by the very talented Donna Wilson. They’re very folk inspired, which I am personally very into. Here are a few for you to swoon over.
And this adorable cushion by Belle & Boo is so sweet. Everyone admires them when they visit the shop.
See you soon
Last Saturday was the annual Hither Green Christmas Fair. It was such a lovely example of a community coming together, even though the weather was fierce! Thank you to everyone who came along and supported all the businesses and stall holders on Staplehurst Road – It was very much appreciated!
During all the madness, I took this photo of the shop front, courtesy of instagram and for me, it really captures one quiet moment during a very busy day!
See you soon
I’m so excited to share something with you all…Home & Kids has been featured in the Mums Mean Business section of Families Magazine. This is the first bit of press for H & K since our re-name and re-brand. There have been many changes and adjustments in the last three months, not just for the business and myself but for our customers too. This article is great opportunity to let everyone know more about my vision for Home & Kids. I absolutely love selling toys for babies and children and have so much fun choosing them and with our new direction in interiors, we have gained lots of new customers who would never have visited us before. It makes me so happy when customers find just what they’re looking for when they visit the shop. Our online web shop is doing fantastically well and I guess it’s good to know I’m doing something right! On the back of all the changes, many opportunities have become available which will kick off in the New Year. One of which is that I will be writing an interiors page for the Guide magazine! My first page will go to print in January, so look out for it! In the meantime, click on the Families magazine link below to read more about me and the business.
